Sesame Seed Hummus
I am actually getting a little sick of coconut oil, believe it or not, so wanted to make hummus using the only other type of oil I have at the moment – toasted sesame oil.
Well, then I found this recipe from Carrie On Vegan for 4-ingredient hummus: chick peas, lemon, garlic, and sesame seeds or tahini.
First of all, can I just say how excited I was at the idea of using sesame seeds instead of tahini? I mean, I know they’re the same thing, but I guess it just didn’t occur to me that you could do that. She does say to make sure that you have a high-powered blender to get the sesame seeds to the right consistency, but all I have is my arthritic immersion blender, and I think it turned out fine!
At the end of her recipe, Carrie lists all the things you’d typically put in hummus that she didn’t call for, like oil, cumin, and paprika. Well, those all sounded delicious, especially since I specifically wanted to use toasted sesame oil. So I added them all in, along with pine nuts and chopped cherry tomatoes. Super good!
Also, can I just point out to everyone that this is MY 100th POST!!!!!!! and I’m super excited that it’s come this far. Thank you so much, everyone, for your feedback and support! And if you want to and haven’t already, please click to follow me at the bottom of the page.
