Alkaline Broth

While we’re on a health kick…. This I originally got from a naturopath in Portland, OR who said it can help balance the body – she recommends drinking at least half a cup each day, during a cleanse especially. I also find it useful for acid reflux or any imbalance like that.

What you do is fill a pot with any green vegetables that you want – it doesn’t really matter. This time I used dinosaur kale, parsley, broccoli, and celery. Cover them with water, and boil them until they’re dead. Then strain it and keep the broth (side note: if anyone has suggestions for what to do with the dead veggies afterwards, please share! They are super mushy and tasteless – nothing you would want to eat).

I just drink the broth as is, hot or cold, but you can add salt if you like. It really tastes fine – like a light veggie broth. And you can keep it in the refrigerator for 3 days (or probably longer, but the naturopath said 3 days).
